Kyrgyzstan expects to receive an influx of tourists in 2023, the press service of the department informs citing the head of the Department of Tourism Samat Shatmanov.
The budget for the development of this industry in 2020 and 2021 amounted to only $53,000 and in 2022 - about $445,000.
According to the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) and the Border Guard Service of Kyrgyzstan data, the number of travelers is almost 7mn people.
“There are more than 50 state resort and sanatorium institutions today. After the COVID-19 pandemic, we began to actively develop health-improving tourist recreation centers and health resorts. We are creating a development strategy for the Issyk-Kul region and building treatment facilities for $25mn,” the official added.
According to Elena Kalashnikova, President of the Tourism Development Support Fund of the country, the number of tourists may increase by 40%.
She also highlighted that most of the residents of the EEU can come to Kyrgyzstan on a civil passport. The absence of a language barrier and relatively inexpensive prices for travelers is a huge advantage.
Kyrgyzstan participated in 3 large international exhibitions in Germany, Malaysia, and Russia in March to demonstrate its tourism potential.
