Kyrgyzstan is included in the list of governments with the largest number of crimes, World Population Review's latest ranking indicates.

According to the rating, the Kyrgyz Republic is in 31st place out of 136 with a crime index of 56.87 in 2023.
The following countries are among the highest ranked:
- Venezuela (83.76);
- Papua New Guinea (80.79);
- South Africa (76.86);
- Afghanistan (76.31);
- Honduras (74.54).
The level of crime varies from country to country and depends on a variety of factors. It is reported that oftentimes large increase in the unemployed and a significant number of the poor correlates with a spike in the crime rate.
In comparison, a large number of police officers, strict laws, and harsh sentences tend to reduce the number of offenses.
There is also a correlation between age and offenses - a significant number of them, especially serious crimes, were committed by those aged 20 to 30 years.
Countries with a low crime rate are Switzerland, Denmark, Japan, New Zealand, and Norway.
