South Korea could not reach North Korea for the last four days via the inter-Korean communication channel and military hotline, Yonhap reports.
According to the Ministry of Unification, the North has not responded to calls since the morning of April 7, and there was no contact with Pyongyang, including through the military hotline.
In the past, the two Koreas used to have conversations twice per day at 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. (UTC +9). It's unclear why the North has stopped answering calls, however, it's thought to be in the revolt of coordinated military exercises between South Korea and the US.
After North Korea terminated links in 2020 and the Inter-Korean Liaison Office was blown up in June of the same year, immediate channels of communication between the DPRK and South Korea were reestablished in July 2021.
