Acting governor of Tashkent, Shavkat Umurzakov, ordered to allocate UZS 700mn to repair the irrigation and drainage system of the capital amid recent flooding.
The funds will be directed from the city's reserve fund for the repair of sewers and the drainage system, as well as the laying of new concrete channels to prevent further flooding during rains.
Earlier, Umurzakov said the cause of up to 30% of floods in the capital came from peoples’ deliberate drain blockage who neglected this factor during house construction.
