On behalf of the Japanese government, Ambassador Takashi Hatori provided the Society of the Blind of Uzbekistan with braille printing equipment on April 7, media reports.
The $91,200 package includes Braille printers for producing books, teaching materials in Uzbek, and software for Braille translation.
The facilities are provided as part of the grant program of the Japanese government entitled 'Grant assistance to social projects of a small scale to ensure human security'.
'So that all people can live with dignity, Japan promotes the concept of Human Security' as the basis of foreign policy, which is to promote the development of countries and society through the protection and strengthening of personal skills,' the Ambassador of Japan told media.
'We hope that the provided equipment will be used effectively to expand the opportunities for quality education for the visually impaired,' Takashi Hatori said.
