Some 766 state-owned enterprises in Uzbekistan are considered inactive and unprofitable, the Agency for Management of State Assets has reported. So far, the republic has registered 2,333 enterprises, and reportedly, their economic participation remains high.
By 2025, the number of state-owned enterprises is expected to shrink by 75%.
By the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of April 3, 2023, ‘On additional measures for the reorganization and liquidation of state institutions and state enterprises, ’ it is necessary to ensure the reorganization of 493 such organizations (282 into state institutions, two into limited liability companies, and 209 into branches). 766 enterprises and organizations are deemed futile, ineffective, and unprofitable.
The founders of these organizations are personally responsible for the qualitative, complete, and timely implementation of reorganization and liquidation, Agency for Management of State Assets states.
