The EU-funded Border Management Programme in Central Asia (BOMCA) reports that experts from Lithuania held a national workshop in Ashgabat for crime intelligence officers.
National Security, Border and Migration Service and Ministry of Interior officials were invited as trainees.
"Participants were taught the principles of operation based on tactical, operational and strategic intelligence; data collection; intelligence models; the intelligence cycle; the exchange and sharing of intelligence; sources of intelligence; and data management".
In addition, the European Union's approach to identifying, implementing, and evaluating priorities in the fight against organized international crime was introduced.
BOMCA was established in 2002 and updated in 2019.
"Since Central Asia is a region of strategic importance facing a number of security challenges, particularly from growing instability in war-torn Afghanistan, the European Union decided to increase its engagement in the region", - the statement says .
