The Cabinet of Ministers of Saudi Arabia has approved the decision to join the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), a local news agency reports.
On March 28, a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers was held under the chairmanship of King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud. The SCO was established in 2001 by China, Russia, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, and Kyrgyzstan. Later, India, Pakistan, and Iran joined this organization.
At the summit held in Samarkand on September 16, 2022, memorandums of dialogue partnership were signed with Egypt, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia, and a decision was made to start the procedure of granting the status of dialogue partners for Bahrain, Kuwait, the Maldives, Myanmar, and the United Arab Emirates.
