Starting from May 1, Uzbekistan plans to organize new flights between a number of regions. This was reported by the press secretary of the President.
Even though there 5 new private airlines established in recent years, and the fleet has reached 44, there is still a shortage of domestic flights which in turn pushes demand for 68 additional weekly trains and 350 new wagons along with tourist busses to Karakalpakstan, Jizzakh, Namangan and Surkhandarya.
In this regard, to the heads of passenger aviation:
- must replenish 20 additional modern planes and increase the national aviation fleet to 64;
- increase the number of air flights per week from 461 to 700 reaching annual passenger traffic to 7.5 million;
- From May 1, there will be regular flights between Ferghana valley and Urganch, Termiz, Bukhara, Samarkand; Termiz and Nukus, Samarkand and Urganch, Bukhara and Urganch. For that, the government will allocate 60 billion soums of subsidy i.e. 25% of the air ticket costs.
