More than 3,000 criminals have been wanted for various unlawful acts for the past three years, Prosecutor General's Office in Kazakhstan told Daryo.
In particular, many criminals are hiding in Russia, Ukraine, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Turkey, and the United Arab Emirates.
'With the help of well-established interaction with these countries, it was possible to calculate the whereabouts of 600 wanted suspects. For the rest of the people, we are working to detain criminals together with the law enforcement agencies of the listed states,' the press service of the governmental department said.
Reportedly, the prosecutors have already managed to detain 500 criminals. They have been extradited to Kazakhstan.
'Currently, more than 2,500 people are wanted. Most of them pass through the internal affairs bodies of the country. In particular, 400 criminals were convicted of fraud and 250 more - of stealing other people's property. Therefore, 250 out of 400 persons who are suspected of committing grave and especially grave crimes were detained after being put on the wanted list', the spokesman outlined.
The General Prosecutor's Office also reported that in 2023 it was possible to bring six suspects in crimes that caused great public outcry to justice. In particular, four are suspected of murder, and two others - organizing and managing the financial pyramids.
