At least twenty-four people dead, and dozens are reportedly injured as a tornado and strong thunderstorms ripped across Mississippi late March 24, the local emergency management agency reported. The twister left a trail of damage for over one hundred miles.
At least twenty-four reports of tornadoes were issued to the National Weather Service (NWS) on Friday night and into Saturday morning by storm chasers and observers, Reuters reports.

The reports stretched from the western edge of Mississippi north through the state's center and into Alabama.
