On March 9, Shavkat Mirziyoyev received a delegation headed by Anna Berde, vice president of the World Bank for Europe and Central Asia, President's press office reports.
The meeting discussed urgent issues of expanding the strategic partnership and multilateral cooperation between Uzbekistan and the World Bank Group, as well as the active participation of this leading international institution in promoting the reform program of the country. Shavkat Mirziyoyev congratulated Anna Berde on her recent appointment to a new position and wished her great success in her responsible work.
The high speed and effectiveness of practical cooperation were noted with great satisfaction. In the following years, the portfolio of joint projects expanded significantly and exceeded $10bn . Uzbekistan has become one of the biggest beneficiaries of the bank.
The partnership program for 2022-2026, based on the important directions of the Development Strategy of New Uzbekistan, has been adopted and is being implemented.
Decarbonization of the economy and the development of alternative energy, master plans in the field of electricity production and transmission, the development of a program to improve energy efficiency and a stable operation mode of the energy system in emergency situations, attracting expert support and financing to hydropower projects were identified as priority areas of cooperation.
