Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan are ranked 59th and 60th in the Global Women's Peace and Security Index (WPS Index) and are recognized as the safest countries in Central Asia.
The WPS Index, published by the Georgetown Institute for Women, Peace, and Security (USA), collects data on the status of women in 170 countries worldwide.
Uzbekistan is 74th, Tajikistan 85th, and Kyrgyzstan 97th.
The leaders of the WPS Index are Norway, Finland, Iceland, Denmark, and Luxembourg. The most significant concern is the situation in Afghanistan, Syria, Yemen, Pakistan, and Iraq.
