The Ministry of Energy of Turkmenistan reports that an international tender has been announced to supply equipment and materials for constructing a solar power plant.
The project is expected to be implemented in remote and hard-to-reach settlements.
Interested parties have until 26 April 2023 to submit a written request specifying the full name of the bidder, its legal status, country of registration, and requisites.
Reportedly, Turkmenistan intends to modernize its energy infrastructure and reduce its dependence on natural gas supplies.
In this area, Turkmenistan looks forward to long-term cooperation with the UAE, which has consistently introduced alternative energy in the post-Soviet republics, including Uzbekistan.
In November 2022, Masdar inked its first local deal to build a 100-megawatt solar photovoltaic plant in Turkmenistan. In addition, The Abu Dhabi Fund for Development (ADFD) has allocated $25mn to construct a 10-megawatt solar-wind power plant in the Kara-Kum desert.
