On February 27, Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting on measures to expand renewable energy sources.
The President's decision of February 16, 2022, enables the acceleration of a major program that should spur the generation of renewable energy sources. For that, the newly established "Green Energy" company will receive 10 million dollars to install 1,700 Megawatt solar panels on the roof of public buildings and private houses.
Andijan, Kashkadarya, Surkhandarya, Fergana, Navoi and Samarkand regions have already initiated the program by installing 220 megawatts of solar panels in public sector facilities and state offices, 1,300 megawatts at business entities, and 15 megawatts on the roofs of newly constructed apartment buildings.
In the last three years, Uzbekistan has attracted 8 billion dollars of direct investments to launch solar panel plants in Navoi and Samarkand regions. 18 more stations are slated to be built in 2023. which will boost the electricity supply by 50%.
