Sherzod Khodjaev has been appointed Director of the Project Office for Renewable Energy at the Ministry of Energy of Uzbekistan.
Khodjaev is one of the few officials who dared to answer the media on energy. While serving as Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Energy of Uzbekistan, he supported the reform and liberalization of the energy market, attracting private investors to the sector, and believed that simply raising energy prices would not be enough.
On January 16, Sherzod Khodjaev was sacked against the backdrop of the energy crisis in the country, along with the mayor of Tashkent, Jakhongir Ortikhodjaev, and the chairman of ‘Issyklik Elektrstansiya’, Farhod Abdurakhmanov.
