Head of the Department at Uzbekistan's Ministry of Natural Resources Aziz Kalimbetov, in a briefing on Tuesday (February 14), commented on reports on air pollution in the capital Tashkent, stressing that it doesn't cause adverse outcomes for human health.
'It has been known that due to the natural features of our country, particularly the dry climate, and sandy soil, the number of suspended particles in the air is high. Fifteen observation posts are operating in the city of Tashkent. Besides, two modern automatic stations entitled Khariba have been put into operation since 2021. The equipment can analyze PM 2.5 solid particles. Following the data of the hydrometeorological service agency on air quality in Tashkent city, it recorded average and good air quality levels which do not seriously affect human health', Aziz Kalimbetov said.
'The Ministry of Natural Resources informs that, along with industrial and transport emissions, tobacco consumption is also a factor that harms the environment and encourages citizens to follow a healthy lifestyle!' the statement reads.
