Archeologists have exhumed unique wall paintings of the Karakhanid era and millennial swords of Damascus in Akhiskent, the ancient settlement near the village Shahand in the Turakurgan district of the Namangan region.
The team of restorers is engaged in the repair of wall paintings and Ganja objects, which are placed in the museum.
Chinese sources say that the gates of Akhsikent were built of gold.
‘There are local legends that this gate is stuck at the bottom of the Syr Darya River. They are certainly based on historical facts’, foreign experts say.
