Seventy-three streets of Uzbekistan's capital Tashkent will get bus lanes. This was announced at the government meeting chaired by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev on Tuesday (January 31), the press service said.
The statement stressed the urgency of 'ensuring the unhindered movement of public transport.'
As per the program aiming to increase the capacity of intersections, the launch of lanes for buses on 73 streets should increase the average speed of buses by 1.5 times.
Governors of provinces were instructed to adopt similar programs for improving the transport infrastructure. Shavkat Mirziyoyev pointed to the need to ensure the priority for public transport on the streets and intersections, and the creation of conditions for passengers.
