Authorities seized two illegal fishermen detected near the golden bridge of the Aydar-Arnasay System of Lakes. A total of 1,065 ‘redeye’ fishes and 25 nets totaling 1,750 meters were seized from citizens, as well as other prohibited fishing gear, media reports.
Criminal proceedings were instituted under the article ‘Violation of the procedure for using animals or plants’ of Uzbekistan’s Criminal Code. Depending on the severity of the crime, the perpetrators face a fine to imprisonment for up to 5 years.
