Uzbekistan's President Shavkat Mirziyoyev on January 20 inked a decree on measures to strengthen the system of combating human immunodeficiency viruses (HIV).
The document defines measures to prevent, diagnose and treat HIV/AIDS, improve test coverage, and strengthen the social protection of patients. For these purposes, 120bn UZS and $54mn would be allocated in 2023-2027.
Besides, the Uzbek government intends to ensure that mother-to-child transmission of HIV infection is eliminated.
The document was adopted under the political declaration of the 95-95-95 targets approved by the UN member states in the summer of 2021. It calls on all nations to ensure that 95% of people living with HIV are aware of their HIV status, 95% of people who know their status receive HIV treatment, and 95% of people receiving HIV treatment have reduced viral load.
