The Tashkent Zoo has temporarily suspended its operation due to extreme cold weather as part of the measures to ensure safety from falling broken branches of trees. The employees of the capital’s zoo have assured the residents and guests of Uzbekistan that animals are safe and sound despite the cold weather.
All primates, predators, and inhabitants of the "Terrarium" live in warmth as the premises of their detention are equipped with a warm floor. For some inhabitants, a natural warming bedding of straw was laid.
At the same time, the entrance between the outer and inner parts of the aviary is always open, so that animals can walk in the open air, and in the case of precipitation - warm up indoors.
In case of a power outage in the "Aquarium" department, a generator was installed to provide oxygen 24 hours a day. The general temperature in the animals' quarters is maintained by central heating, 24-hour video surveillance, and staff on duty, which allows monitoring of the well-being of the zoo residents.
