Another cough syrup manufactured by an Indian ‘Marion Biotech’ Pharmaceutical Company is said to have been withdrawn from sale in Uzbekistan after 19 child casualties allegedly caused by DOK-1MAX side effects, media reports. An internal memo inked by Sardor Kariev, the director of the Pharmaceutical Network Development Agency under Uzbekistan's Ministry of Health, on December 29, surfaced on social networks.
It instructs to withdraw Ambronol syrup from pharmacies immediately. Drugstores are said to contact distributors who supply the pharmaceutical.
As follows from the instructions on the website of the drug distributor (Quramax), ‘Ambronol’ contains the active substance such as ambroxol hydrochloride (15 mg), as well as excipients comprising sodium saccharin, citric acid monohydrate, glycerin, menthol, propylene glycol, disodium hydrogen phosphate, dihydrogen phosphate sodium.
Earlier on Thursday (December 29), the Ministry of Health started sending a text message to mobile operators urging not to consume DOK-1 MAX syrup.
‘Do not consume DOC-1MAX! Beware of the health of your children!’ - the message reads.
