Uzbekistan on Saturday (December 3) registered 162 coronavirus infection cases, the highest figure since February 21, when 175 cases were detected. The daily increase of over 100 infection cases has been observed every day since 25 November.
On Saturday, 89 patients were diagnosed in Tashkent, and 20 patients in the Tashkent region, the press service of the republic’s Ministry of Health reports. The Samarkand (+10) and Namangan regions (+10) closed the top three on December 3 by registering an equal number of new patients. Other regions registered fewer cases compared to Uzbekistan's capital on Saturday.
Earlier Nurmat Atabekov, Deputy Head of the Sanitary and Epidemiological Wellbeing and Public Health Service stressed that the epidemiological situation in Uzbekistan and around the globe has deteriorated due to the omicron strain outbreak. Omicron subvariant of coronavirus, BA.5 has become a dominant strain in Uzbekistan, according to the republic’s Ministry of Health.
