The volume of natural gas production in Uzbekistan's gas fields is decreasing. Necessary measures are being taken to increase its volume, the press service of the Ministry of Energy reported.
In 2021, Uzbekistan’s gas output was 229 million cubic meters of natural gas which less than the designated plan, and in 11 months of 2022, natural gas was produced 5.8% less than the plan.
Gas fields in the regions of the country are producing 7% less natural gas per day compared to the plan. The main reason for this was considered to be the decrease of natural gas reserves in gas fields. Despite the measures taken today, a decrease in gas pressure is observed in the pipelines due to the sharp cooling of the air temperature. The extracted natural gas is directed to domestic consumption, in particular, to residential and social facilities and thermal power plants.
The intended goal is first of all to provide the population and public buildings (preschool educational organizations, schools, educational institutions, hospitals, etc.) with heat. Currently, the necessary measures to increase the volume of natural gas production are being developed.
In this regard, we ask consumers to understand this situation and use energy resources as rationally and thriftily as possible, - the statement reads.
