‘Merciless attitude towards animals and absolute irresponsibility; that is how we can characterize the act of a passenger on a flight from Egypt, who in boxes of cookies carried cubs of reptiles: one Nile crocodile, three iguanas, and pythons (mesh, tiger, and green).
This happened on November 16 of this year. The woman's behavior aroused suspicion, and, as it turned out, it was not accidental.
The coordinated work of the airport staff helped to stop the illegal importation of exotic animals.
The reptiles were in poor condition. Adapted to the hot climate, the animals spent many hours at low temperatures in the aircraft's cargo hold and in a cramped environment. Besides, the crocodile, much larger than the newborn iguanas, was in the same box, traumatizing them and causing them a critical condition.
Thus, the newborn tiger and mesh pythons are extremely depleted; their bodies are dehydrated and require serious veterinary treatment.
‘The captive passengers’ were transferred to the zoo, where they are quarantined and under the supervision of specialists', the message from the Tashkent zoo reads.
