On Saturday, October 8, the last round of the "Save Aral-2022" charity marathon and "Uzbekneftgaz" games were held in Kokand. As of 2022, about 50,000 running amateurs, representatives of sports societies and professional athletes participated in the project.
Attracting the general public's opinion to the environmental problem around the Aral Sea and the restoration of the Aral Sea region has become the main idea of the "Save Aral" charity public running competitions. The organizers decided to hold 4 public running competitions in the cities of Torakurgan, Shahrikhan, Margilan and Kokan along the Fergana Valley. More than 3 thousand runners joined the running competition in each city. Leaders and employees of the authorities of Namangan, Andijan and Fergana regions actively support a healthy lifestyle and set an example for the local population, participating in public sports events every year.
In 2022, thousands of citizens in 16 cities of Uzbekistan took steps to save the Aral Sea and strengthen the nation's health within the framework of the "Save Aral - 2022" project.
"Save Aral" public running competitions are held under the leadership of the Athletics Federation of the Republic of Uzbekistan and "Uzbekneftgaz" JSC, with the broad support of the Ministry of Sports Development, the National Olympic Committee and regional authorities.
