On October 5, a meeting was held with the vice-president of the Bangkok Islamic Committee, Prasob Pusamleye, and the president of the Arab Universities Alumni Association, Ghazi Shamsuddin, at the Consulate General of Uzbekistan in Bangkok, the capital of Thailand.
At the meeting, the Consulate General presented a presentation on the potential of Uzbekistan in terms of pilgrimage, gastronomic and winter tourism, as well as handicraft products. Also, detailed information was provided about the "Eternal City" complex built in Samarkand and the facilities created for foreign tourists in the republic.
The Thai side noted that among the Muslim population of the Kingdom, there is a great interest in visiting the Islamic shrines of Uzbekistan, studying the scientific heritage of Islamic scholars such as Imam Bukhari, Imam Tirmidhi and other great scholars. It was emphasized that the resumption of flights between the two countries would serve to increase the flow of tourists in this direction.
At the end of the negotiations, it was agreed to develop cooperation in actively promoting Uzbekistan's contribution to the development of Islamic civilization among the Muslim population of Thailand in order to attract Thai tourists to the republic in the direction of pilgrimage tourism, and to organize visits of representatives of Thai scientific circles to Uzbekistan.
At the meeting, it was announced that a copy of Imam Bukhari's "Al-Jami' as-sahih" collection, published in Thai, will be presented in Uzbekistan by the office of the Bangkok Islamic Committee.
Founded in 1945, the office of the Bangkok Islamic Committee regulates the activities of more than 180 mosques in this city. The activities of the organization include tasks such as coordinating youth issues, serving to improve community solidarity and inter-confessional communication.
