On July 11, 2022, news blasted the internet about an ATM cash withdrawal commission that surged up to 3%.
The Central Bank of Uzbekistan was quick to comment on that:
“Some private banks have set a higher commission in ATMs as an experiment, which is not competitive in today’s world,” the Money regulator cites.
Commission fees for withdrawing cash from ATMs are set independently by banks based on ATM service costs and currently do not exceed 1%.
The Central Bank also requested active netizens to verify the information before posting on social media platforms.
