As of June 1, the currency in circulation in Uzbekistan has amounted to 36.9 trillion soums or roughly $3.357 billion, the statistics of the Central Bank of Uzbekistan reports to "Daryo" News Agency. The amount of cash issued by the Central Bank has been increasing month by month due to the recent shortage of cash at ATMs.
Cash outflows increased by 5.3 trillion soums in April, to 3.7 trillion soums in May, and as of June 1, they amounted to about 37 trillion soums.
Thus, the amount of cash in circulation has reached a record level since 2013. The statistics are from this year.
The broad money supply increased by a record high (+13.3 trillion soums) to 158.5 trillion soums.
The total money supply in the national currency increased by 6.9 trillion soums to 108.2 trillion soums.
Foreign currency deposits increased by a record 50 billion soums.
The reason?
This is mainly due to remittances from the population and the payment of one-time social benefits in May, the Central Bank said.
In particular, in the last five months, the positive difference between the purchase of foreign currency by banks from the population and its sale to the population amounted to $ 1.5 billion.
The central bank also noted a sharp increase in remittances to Uzbekistan in late spring - from $ 500 million a month to $ 1.3 billion in April-May.
