The 28th plenary session of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan lambasted the low pace of localization which made the economy dependent on imported raw materials.
Although the production of trucks, drilling pump, small power electric motors, and ultrasonic water meters has been well underway, 115 projects worth 1.9 trillion soums included in the localization program in 2021 have not been launched, and the plan for the production of local products for 203 projects has not been implemented.
"Uzavtosanoat", Pharmaceutical Network Development Agency, "Uzmakhusmontajkurilish", "Uztoqimachiliksanaot" association, "Uzeltexsanoat" association, and Khorezm, Kashkadarya, Andijan, Samarkand regions have not fully utilized their potentials.
www.cooperation.uz, a public portal, has detected illegal direct contracts, making purchases at high prices by non-local manufacturing entities and selling imported goods.
The Senate decided to send a parliamentary request to the government regarding the implementation of localization programs in the production sector of the economy.
