The National Guard issued an official statement again due to the fact that various false information about the mass riots that took place in the city of Nukus on July 1-2 continue to be disseminated on some social networks.
It was reported that video footage showing the discovery of shell casings from firearms was distributed at the places where riots took place. The casings were said to be left over from the ammunition used to kill civilians during the peaceful protests, but the footage did not show any casualties.
"Therefore, we report that these reports are false. At a media briefing, National Guard officials were specific about when live ammunition would be used, but it was not. Only special means - light, noise and smoke - were used to disperse the crowd and suppress riots.
Let's make it clear that the cartridges filled with pyrotechnics are fired from a Kalashnikov machine gun with a special 4-shot attachment. Of course, cotton bullets are placed in the machine to use such special tools. Some citizens, who found the remains of such special tools used to disperse the crowd, aimed to spread provocative video messages on social networks. However, there are legal grounds for law enforcement officers to use weapons in such situations," the National Guard said.
