Nukus unrest: Prosecutor General's Office files charges on encroachment on constitutional system

More than 500 unauthorized rally participants have been arrested in Karakalpakstan, the spokesperson of the Prosecutor General's Office informed about the bloody protest that erupted in Nukus at a briefing organized by the Agency of Information and Mass Communications under the Administration of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan. 
On July 1, a mob of protesters had agitated the people with provocative slogans, disobeying the law enforcement officers, causing unlawful civil unrest in Nukus that spilled into heavy clashes between legal force and rioters.
On July 2, 2022, a criminal case was initiated under part 4 of Article 159 (encroachment of the constitutional system of the Republic of Uzbekistan) and other articles of the Criminal Code.
