In order to follow the strict state of emergency rules in Karakalpakstan, the operation of the Nukus airport had been limited during the curfew hours (from 21:00 to 07:00).
Therefore, Uzbekistan Airways flights HY017/HY018 on the Tashkent-Nukus-Tashkent route were cancelled on July 3 and will be carried out on July 4 by flights HY011/HY012 on the same route.
The unauthorized protests in Nukus that spewed into bloody clashes between police and rioters had urged Uzbek President to impose almost a month-long state of emergency to ensure the safety of people, protect their rights and freedom, and restore legality and law and order in the territory of Karakalpakstan from 00:01 on July 3 to 00:00 on August 2.
