Coca-Cola and Uzbekistan celebrated the grand opening of its fourth non-alcoholic beverage production plant in the Samarkand region, Ministry of Investment, Industry, and Trade (MIIT) of Uzbekistan informed.
On May 15, Laziz Kudratov, the Minister of MIIT, Uzbekistan, attended the inauguration ceremony of the new Coca-Cola non-alcoholic beverage production plant in the Samarkand region. The event was also attended by James Quincey, Chairman and CEO of The Coca-Cola Company, and Tuncay Özilhan, Chairman of the Board of ANADOLU GROUP.
To date, Coca-Cola operates three other plants in Uzbekistan, located in Tashkent, Urgench, and the Namangan region. These facilities have collectively benefited from $500 mn in investments, creating over 1,500 jobs. Together, they produce approximately 171 mn unit cases annually, equating to over 900 million liters of beverages.
Coca-Cola has announced plans for further expansion in Uzbekistan. A new production line is scheduled to be established in the city of Namangan, with an estimated cost of $50 mn. This new line is expected to commence operations in 2025.
In the Namangan region, a new factory spanning 14.2 hectares is set to produce carbonated beverages. This backed by investments from CCI International Holland B.V., will have an annual production capacity of 198 mn liters. Namangan was chosen strategically for its advantageous location near neighboring countries, facilitating easier product export. This initiative is projected to create 300 jobs.
During the inauguration ceremony, both James Quincey and Tuncay Özilhan praised the investment climate in Uzbekistan. They acknowledged the conducive environment for foreign investors, facilitated by supportive government policies and initiatives aimed at fostering economic growth and industrial development.
