In a meeting with President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, James Quincey, Chairman and CEO of Coca-Cola, along with Tuncay Ozilhan, Chairman of Anadolu Group, Coca-Cola disclosed intentions to establish a fifth production plant in the Namangan region by 2025, presidential press service informed on May 15.
Coca-Cola, renowned as one of the world's foremost soft drink manufacturers, boasts a global footprint extending across more than 200 countries, offering a portfolio of over 200 brands from over 950 production facilities. Within Uzbekistan, the exclusive partner of the company, Coca-Cola İçecek, operates under the umbrella of Turkey's Anadolu Group, contributing significantly to the nation's economic fabric.
At the heart of discussions during the high-profile meeting was the reaffirmation of the positive trajectory of collaboration between Uzbekistan and Coca-Cola, particularly in fostering innovation and sustainability within the food and beverage sector. Noteworthy advancements include the adoption of environmentally friendly solutions and the integration of energy and water-saving technologies, indicative of a shared commitment towards environmental stewardship.
A landmark moment in this enduring partnership was marked by the inauguration of a new Coca-Cola enterprise in the Samarkand region.
In Namangan region, a factory covering an area of 14.2 hectares is designated for the production of carbonated drinks. With a capacity to produce 198 mn liters annually, the venture is valued at $50 mn and will additionally benefit from investments by CCI International Holland B.V. Construction is scheduled for conclusion by the end of this year, with commencement of operations anticipated in the first quarter of 2025. The selection of Namangan was deliberate, leveraging its strategic location near neighboring countries to streamline product export. The initiative is forecasted to generate 300 employment opportunities.
Emphasizing the pivotal role of innovation in driving economic growth, President Mirziyoyev underscored the importance of fostering a conducive ecosystem for research and development while prioritizing the training of skilled professionals in engineering and industry-specific disciplines. In this vein, agreements were reached to expand the investment program, diversify product offerings, and localize the production of materials and components, laying the groundwork for sustained growth and industrial modernization.
In a proactive measure to expedite the realization of promising ventures, President Mirziyoyev directed the formulation of a dedicated roadmap, aimed at streamlining the implementation of priority projects and maximizing their socio-economic impact.
