Following extensive negotiations between President Shavkat Mirziyoyev of Uzbekistan and President Vladimir Putin of the Russian Federation, a joint statement was signed. It was also highlighted that agreements for new projects totaling $20 bn were inked during this visit, on May 27.
The signing ceremony, attended by the heads of state, included the exchange of several crucial bilateral agreements aimed at fostering cooperation across various sectors. Among the key agreements signed are:
- Joint Action Plan: outlining strategies to expand cooperation in priority areas between Uzbekistan and Russia.
- Intergovernmental Agreement on Metrology: providing technical assistance to Uzbekistan in the field of metrology.
- Intergovernmental Agreement on Joint Film Production: facilitating collaboration in the filmmaking industry.
- Intergovernmental Agreement on Sanitary and Epidemiological Well-being: ensuring the health and safety of the population through cooperation.
- Agreement on Scientific Technologies Competitions: between relevant ministries of both countries.
- Protocol on Amendments to Cooperation in Fisheries: enhancing collaboration in the fisheries sector.
- Cooperation Programs: covering culture (2024-2026) and tourism flow increase (2025-2026).
- Joint Action Plan on Industrial Cooperation Expansion: aimed at boosting trade between relevant ministries.
- Digital Cooperation in Phytosanitary Field: between agricultural agencies.
- Practical Measures Plan for Quarantine and Plant Protection: outlining cooperation for 2024-2025.
- Memorandum on Educational Institution Establishment: establishing a branch of Bauman Moscow State Technical University.
- Agreements on Healthcare Organization: covering various aspects including drug regulation and medical devices.
- Cooperation Agreement on Nuclear Power Plant Construction: within Uzbekistan.
- Agreement on Opening Branch of All-Russian Academy of Foreign Trade: in Tashkent.
- Cooperation Documents: focusing on transport engineering, civil aviation, tourism, humanitarian projects, and agro-logistics and chemical facilities establishment.
These agreements reflect the comprehensive nature of the partnership between Uzbekistan and Russia, spanning economic, cultural, educational, healthcare, and technological domains.
Earlier Daryo reported that Uzbekistan and Russia have set a new target of reaching a $30bn trade volume in the near future. To facilitate this, Uzbekistan intends to inaugurate a fully-fledged trade mission in Russia.
