Uzbekistan’s total money supply has reached a record level, crossing UZS 312.5 trillion ($24.6bn) as of July 1, the Central Bank announced.

This marks the highest money supply figure ever recorded in the country’s economic history. The sharp increase follows a notable milestone in May, when the money supply surpassed UZS 300 trillion ($23.6bn) for the first time.
In June alone, Uzbekistan's money supply grew by UZS 12.3 trillion ($962.5mn), bringing the annual increase to UZS 76 trillion ($5.9bn). The Central Bank noted that the bulk of this rise came from growth in the national currency supply, which expanded by UZS 10.6 trillion ($829.5mn). As of the end of last month, the money supply in soums stood at UZS 250 trillion ($19.6bn).
Cash in circulation also grew significantly last month, increasing by UZS 3.9 trillion ($305.2mn) to reach UZS 59.1 trillion ($4.6bn).
The Central Bank began publishing money supply data in February 2013, when the total was UZS 24.4 trillion ($1.9bn). Since then, the figure has grown more than twelvefold, exceeding UZS 100 trillion ($7.9bn) in June 2020 and crossing UZS 200 trillion ($15.7bn) in November 2023.
