China Eastern Airlines has launched regular passenger flights between Xi’an and Tashkent, marking the carrier’s first entry into the Uzbek aviation market, Uzbekistan Airports reported.

The inaugural flight landed at Tashkent International Airport on July 16 at 14:38 with 137 passengers on board. The aircraft was greeted with the traditional water arch ceremony.
The new service will operate three times a week—on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays—using Airbus A320 aircraft. The journey is expected to take approximately 4.5 hours.
In July, Uzbekistan’s aviation authority, Uzaviatsia, granted China Eastern Airlines permission to operate scheduled flights on the Xi’an–Tashkent–Xi’an route. Initial plans indicated the use of Boeing 737-800 aircraft, though Airbus A320s are currently being used for the route.

China Eastern Airlines, founded in 1988 and headquartered in Shanghai, is one of China’s largest and most prominent airlines.
Earlier, Air China received authorization to operate scheduled flights to Uzbekistan. The approval was granted within the framework of the bilateral air services agreement between Uzbekistan and China. The airline is set to operate two main routes: Tashkent–Beijing and Urumqi–Tashkent–Urumqi.
