The Chinese distributor of the renowned Tommy Hilfiger brand has expressed strong interest in sourcing leather goods from Peng Sheng, a leading leather producer based in Uzbekistan’s Syrdarya region. This potential collaboration came to light during the prestigious Lineapelle International Exhibition in Milan, where Uzbek enterprises, represented by the Uzcharmsanoat Association, are actively engaging with global partners.
Peng Sheng's management held talks with several international companies, including Portugal's Rubber Shoes, Indonesia's Hi Huat, India's Orjet Intermediates, and Turkey's Talal Salt.
These discussions focused on the supply of finished leather products, with foreign companies showing significant interest in Peng Sheng’s offerings, particularly those made with advanced technology. Samples were provided, and agreements are expected to follow upon the successful completion of quality control tests.
Tommy Hilfiger’s Chinese distributor is particularly drawn to Peng Sheng’s use of safe chemicals in their production processes. The company is planning to test the leather products, with the possibility of future partnerships depending on the results. An audit of Peng Sheng's manufacturing facilities will also be conducted to ensure compliance with international standards.
Other Uzbek companies, including Pelle Technology, Hamkor-Nur-Savdo, and Ulkan Laziz, also held fruitful negotiations at the exhibition with partners from Hungary, Portugal, Egypt, and Pakistan. These discussions centered around the supply of special footwear and processed sheepskin, further highlighting Uzbekistan's growing role in the global leather goods market.
