Construction has begun on a $120mn metallurgical plant in the Taraqqiyot industrial zone of the Toshloq district in the Fergana region, according to the regional administration's press service.
The project, in partnership with China’s Shandong Aipurui Steel Plate, is structured in three stages. It is set to create 500 new jobs, with the first stage scheduled to begin operations in the first quarter of 2025. Entrepreneur Nodirjon Ruziboev stated that the plant will produce high-quality recycled iron products for both domestic use and international markets.
Khokim (mayor) of the Fergana region, Khairullo Bazarov, highlighted the critical role of a robust economy and entrepreneurship in national development. He noted the growing interest of foreign investors, attributing this to the region's favorable business environment. Bozorov emphasized that the intensified cooperation between China and the region has fostered new investment opportunities, with the metallurgical project exemplifying strong and reliable collaboration with Chinese partners.
Once fully operational, the plant will meet domestic needs and export products to international markets. The Uzbek-Chinese joint venture, named the Fergana Metallurgical Plant, has officially started operations.
The Uzbek-Chinese joint venture is now operational following its official registration and a finalized agreement with a Chinese investor.
