Aaron Greenberg, UNICEF's regional adviser on child protection, recently praised Central Asian countries for their efforts in repatriating women and children from conflict zones.
At a recent sub-regional meeting, delegations from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan gathered to share experiences, review lessons learned, and devise collaborative solutions.
Greenberg commended these nations for prioritizing the welfare of children affected by armed conflicts and human rights violations. He emphasized the importance of reintegrating these children into families and communities rather than placing them in institutional care.
He also expressed heartfelt thanks to the European Union for its ongoing support of this crucial initiative.
The Central Asian countries are working diligently to enhance support systems for women and children returning from regions such as Iraq and Syria. These efforts focus on providing essential assistance and services to ensure a successful reintegration into society. This includes improving support mechanisms and delivering necessary resources to help returnees adapt and thrive in their new environments.
