North-Western Cargo International Airlines (NWCIA), a Chinese cargo airline is set to commence regular cargo flights from Xi'an to Tashkent, marking a significant expansion in air cargo connectivity between China and Central Asia. Uzbekistan Airports, the state-run airport operator of Uzbekistan announced that the inaugural flight is scheduled for September 4.
The cargo service will be operated using Boeing 757-200 freighters, which have a carrying capacity of up to 25 tons. Initially, the flights will be conducted on a weekly basis, with plans to increase the frequency to three times a week as demand grows. Founded in 2020 and headquartered in Xi'an, the capital of Shaanxi Province NWCIA has established itself as a key player in the Chinese air cargo sector. The airline operates a fleet of four Boeing 757 freighters and was founded by major cargo airline YTO Cargo Airlines and Shaanxi Province.
As reported by Daryo earlier, YTO Cargo Airlines from China began regular cargo flights to Uzbekistan starting June with the first flight to Tashkent International Airport using the ARJ21-700 aircraft. This development follows prior operations of charter flights to Tashkent using Boeing 757 aircraft. The move aligns with efforts to increase direct flights between Uzbekistan and China, with the current number at 18 flights per week operated by Uzbekistan Airways, China Southern Airlines and Loong Air.
