President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev of Kazakhstan will make a state visit to the Republic of Tajikistan at the invitation of Tajikistan’s President Emomali Rahmon on August 22-23, 2024. This visit will mark a significant moment in Tajik-Kazakh relations, featuring a series of bilateral meetings and cultural events aimed at strengthening ties between the two nations.
During his visit, President Tokayev will engage in high-level talks with President Rahmon, focusing on deepening cooperation and signing a comprehensive package of agreements, including the notable Treaty on Allied Relations. The visit will also see both leaders participating in a gala concert to inaugurate Kazakhstan Culture Days in Tajikistan, celebrating the rich cultural exchange between the two countries.
In addition to the main discussions, President Tokayev's itinerary includes meetings with key Tajik officials such as M. Zokirzoda, Chairman of the Majlisi Namoyandagon of the Majlisi Oli and Q. Rasulzoda, Prime Minister of Tajikistan. The state visit will be marked by a series of parallel events in Tajikistan’s capital, Dushanbe, including a business forum, a conference of scientists, a women’s forum, a youth forum, Kazakh cinema days and an exhibition showcasing Kazakh fine arts and folk crafts. Highlights of the visit also include the unveiling of a bust of Kazakh poet Abay Kunanbayev in Dushanbe and concerts in Bokhtar and Khujand.
Earlier Daryo reported, Kazakhstan has ratified a Treaty with Uzbekistan to bolster allied relations, focusing on enhanced cooperation across political, economic, and security sectors. The agreement also includes a protocol to ease mutual travel between the countries and strengthen bilateral ties in various fields.
