Uzbekistan has experienced an increase in foreign visitors traveling for commercial purposes in the first half of 2024, with 65,000 international business travelers visiting, the statistics agency reported.
This figure represents a rise of 42,000 people, or 2.8 times more, compared to the same period last year.
Turkmenistan leads with 37,900 business trips, making up 58% of the total. Tajikistan follows with 21,400 trips, and in May-June, 10,200 Tajik citizens visited Uzbekistan for business, nearly matching the previous four months' total.
Afghanistan is third with 1,500 business trips, China is fourth with 723, and India is fifth with 582, surpassing Türkiye, which had 529 trips.
Kyrgyzstan had 385 business trips, South Korea had 329, the United States had 199, and Russia had 157. Other countries contributed about 1,100 visits.
In 1H24, Uzbekistan received 3.5mn foreign tourists, up 13.3% from the same period in 2023. Simultaneously, 2.2mn Uzbek nationals traveled abroad for tourism between January and May.
