UzAuto Motors has initiated exports of its Chevrolet Cobalt model to Mongolia, as part of its ongoing market expansion strategy. The first shipment of Cobalt vehicles departed from the Asaka plant on July 30, marking Mongolia as the seventh international market for the carmaker.
Doctor Auto Chain, located in Ulaanbaatar, was appointed as the official dealer for Chevrolet in Mongolia. This company will handle the sale and maintenance of the Chevrolet Cobalt, providing a full range of services to local customers.
UzAuto Motors has noted that the Chevrolet Cobalt is well-adapted to the challenging climatic and road conditions found in Mongolia, making it a suitable choice for the local market.
In December 2023, UzAuto Motors suspended the sale of several models, including the Cobalt, Damas, and Labo, following a record contracting of 171,000 units over three days. Subsequent rounds of contracting for the Cobalt saw significant demand: in June, 25,000 units were contracted in just over nine hours, while an additional 14,000 units were contracted on 5 July. By mid-July, UzAuto Motors had re-contracted 26,700 Cobalt vehicles, primarily to individual buyers. Currently, the Chevrolet Cobalt is not available for unrestricted sale in Uzbekistan.
