Ulan Japarov, the nephew of President Sadyr Japarov, has been placed in custody once more following allegations of large-scale fraud, announced the Pervomaiskiy District Court.
He is set to remain in remand prison #1 until August 19 as investigations continue under the oversight of the State National Security Committee.
This development unfolds amid an ongoing trial at the Pervomaisky District Court, where Ulan Japarov faces accusations related to corruption within customs operations. Witnesses are currently being examined as part of the proceedings.
Ulan Japarov had previously been detained by police during the summer of 2023 and subsequently held in remand prison #1. Later that autumn, he was released under house arrest pending further legal processes.
The detained individual is the son of Rakymjan Japarov, a cousin of President Sadyr Japarov.
In response to his nephew's custody, in 2023 President Sadyr Japarov reiterated his commitment to the rule of law, emphasizing that all individuals, regardless of their familial ties or influence, must be held accountable for their actions.
