Ulan Japarov, the nephew of Kyrgyzstan's President Sadyr Japarov, has been apprehended on July 6 and is decided to remain in custody, 24.kg reports.
His attorney requested a modification of the preventive measure, but the Bishkek court decided to maintain his detention, keeping him at the 1st detention center in Bishkek until July 26. The arrest was made based on corruption allegations, and the investigation is being carried out by the Investigative Service under the Ministry of Internal Affairs. This information was confirmed by Dayirbek Orunbekov, the head of the press service of Kyrgyzstan's president.
The press secretary also affirmed that the arrested 32-year-old Ulan Japarov is the son of the cousin of Sadyr Japarov.
Dayirbek Orunbekov further stated that President Sadir Japarov has previously emphasized that - "Every individual will be held accountable for their actions in accordance with the law, irrespective of their connections or family ties."
