Following mudflows that struck the Osh region of Kyrgyzstan on July 14, Uzbekistan has promptly dispatched humanitarian aid to assist affected communities. The Andijan region khokimiyat's (city administration) press service reported that Uzbekistan sent 200 tons of aid, delivered on July 16 through the Dustlik border post in the Khojaabad region to the Kara-Suu region.
The aid shipment, transported by a convoy of 13 trucks, included essential supplies such as food, clothing, household items, and construction materials. Nine trucks proceeded directly to Osh to provide assistance to those impacted by the natural disaster.
Leading the Uzbek delegation was Shukhrat Abdurakhmanov, the khokim (mayor) of Andijan region, who visited Yangi mahalla in Osh. Abdurakhmanov conveyed condolences and messages of support from the President of Uzbekistan to the affected residents.
The mudflows in Osh and surrounding areas caused vital damage, affecting nearly 800 buildings including residential homes and public facilities. Tragically, the disaster resulted in fatalities.
Earlier in July, Uzbekistan had sent 95 tons of humanitarian aid to assist residents in Kyrgyzstan's southern regions affected by flooding.
