Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan have launched a new air navigation corridor in collaboration between Uzaeronavigatsia and Kazaeronavigatsia. This initiative, which saw new sections of the T-916 zonal navigation route officially commissioned on July 11, aims to optimize flight paths and reduce environmental impact.
The newly established corridor is 40 kilometers shorter than previous routes, promising significant fuel savings for airlines. It is estimated that airlines could save between 30 to 50 tons of jet fuel annually per airline, assuming daily utilization of the optimized route. Additionally, the initiative aims to reduce oxygen consumption by 50-70 tons and lower carbon dioxide emissions by 220-250 tons annually.
Lufthansa was the first airline to use the new route upon its launch, highlighting the immediate practical benefits of the initiative. Forecasts indicate that more than 30 airlines plan to integrate the optimized corridor into their daily flight schedules, enhancing operational efficiency across the region.
